Battleground Errata

We try very hard to get our cards right, but sometimes we make mistakes.  Here are all the cards we’ve had to issue errata on, along with explanations.  In each case, we’ve given you corrected files so you can print them out either as a reference or to slip into card sleeves.

Hardened (Hawk) Hardened (Undead) Hardened (Orc)

When we launched Battleground our original three factions had a shared mistake; the command card Hardened said it should be played after your opponent rolls, rather than before.

Wolf Pack

We designed this unit with the idea that it would be fairly easy to chase off but that it would dart away and return quickly to fight again.  To reflect this, we gave it a very large defensive bonus when routing and made it rally automatically at the end of the turn.  Unfortunately, when we made our final version the “auto-rally” aspect was left off.

Aspect of Bear Aspect of Stag

Three of the Ravenwood command cards combine bonuses to one skill with penalties to another.  With the addition of the Overkill rule (whereby a 6 isn’t automatically a miss), these cards lost some power.  After a bunch of playtesting we concluded that Aspect of Oak was still good enough to be left alone but tweaked Aspect of Stag (no extra attack die but no penalty to skill) and Aspect of Bear (one extra attack die when used offensively).

We intended for this unit to receive no penalty for move and shoot, but left it off the final card.

Tyrannosaurus Rex

Imagine the scene.  I’m at Essen, playing a game of Battleground with my new friend Hansrainer who had volunteered to help out at the booth.  A number of bad rout checks on my part have the battle looking pretty desperate, but at least I’ve set up a position where his T-Rex will have to final rush into a double pinch.  Hansrainer then says he’ll spend a command action to take direct control of his T-Rex.

“You can’t do that.”

“It doesn’t say so on the card.”

Hrm.

Suffice to say that T-Rex cannot be directly controlled.

Combat Modifiers

This is the most updated version of the combat modifiers card that will be released with the High Elves.
